Animal Care and Veterinary Services

Program Details:

This one-year course provides students with classroom instruction and community classroom internship training for entry level skills in the animal care field. The course includes: opportunities in the animal care field, animal restraint, first aid, terminology, sanitation, nutrition, domestic breeds and general care. Our internship training facilities include pet shops, veterinary hospitals, kennels, grooming shops, zoos, and nature centers.

After successful completion of the following trainings, students will earn the following certificates:

  • Dog Gurus Knowing Dogs 101: Dog Language Certification
  • Dog Gurus Knowing Dogs 102: Dog Group Play Certification
  • California Radiation Safety Certification Test
  • Pet Tech, Pet CPT and First Aid Certification
  • LBSA Animal Care Certificate of Completion
  • LBSA Veterinary Assistant Certificate of Completion

The class meets Monday and Wednesday night from 5:30 - 9 p.m.

Once the student internship starts, there are only once weekly class meetings.

Program cost is $1,600. We accept quarterly payments (see office for schedule). There is a 3% fee to use your credit/debit card.

Enrollment begins in August for a September start date and again in January for an end of January start date.
